DERMAPLANING

What is Dermaplaning?
DermaPlaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). Using a scalpel and a delicate touch, our licensed aesthetician will simply abrade the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes. DermaPlaning removes the outer most layers of dead skin cells. Leaving the skin immediately smooth, supple and vibrant. DermaPlaning is another non-invasive method of skin rejuvenation.
This is a great treatment for patients who are pregnant or nursing and who want a deep exfoliation but are not allowed to use peeling agents on their skin. It is also a first choice for patients who have excess vellus hair on the skin. This hair often causes a build up of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair gives the patients healthier looking skin. It also helps to remove actinic keratosis which is a precursor to cancer.

How does microneedling work?Similar to that of many other non-surgical skin-tightening procedures, Microneedling creates a controlled non-thermal injury underneath the skin’s surface. The body then responds through the formation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibers called “neo-collagenesis” as well as new capillaries for an improved blood supply called “neo-angiogenesis” in the treated area. The skin plumps and thickens in response to this stimulus, ultimately reducing the appearance of scars, fine lines and other skin texture changes.

Continued HydraFacial treatments are highly recommended to maintain skin health results. Each treatment is accompanied by a take home guideline to ensure proper aftercare
-
How will this improve my appearance?• Your skin will be free of unwanted fine hair • Reduction of fine lines • Glowing skin tone
-
Will the hairs grow back thicker on my face? No. It is physiologically impossible for your vellus hairs to grow back thicker. True, once the hair is cut, it has a blunt edge. But this blunt edge does not mean that the hair structure itself has been physiologically altered. Vellus hair when cut or removed will grow back the same. The structure of the hair does not become damaged therefore it is impossible to alter.
-
Will it hurt? Not at all. In fact, many clients report feeling relaxed and enjoy the sensation of the blade grooming their skin. For many, this treatment may be more comfortable than microdermabrasion.

Can DermaPlaning be performed with a chemical peel?Absolutely. We can recommend the right Peel depending on your skin analysis.
-
How will I look immediately after the treatment?Very little recovery is involved with this treatment. The most important thing to do is keep your skin clean so there is no build-up of oils in the pores where vellus hair was growing. It is also important to apply sunscreen. Your skin will be more refined, smooth and have a glowing appearance.
